Before there was Tiffany and Emani Moss, there was Victoria and Emmanuel Foster...

Tiffany Moss is currently on trial for capital murder in Georgia and could be sentenced to death if found guilty. Her husband, the biological father of Emani Moss has taken a plea deal and received life in prison. Tiffany stands accused of starving Emani to death. The cause of death was starvation, however there is ample evidence her life was in fact a living hell.

In 2015, in Michigan, Victoria Foster left her seven year old son, Emmanuel, in the care of her 57 bruises on his body, gangrene on his feet and pneumoniaboyfriend, Cory Rimson with instructions that were basically to provide hospice care as the child was near death. At the time of his death, he weighed 27 pounds at seven years of age. The medical examiner testified that he had 57 bruises on his body, gangrene on his feet and pneumonia.

The biggest difference in these cases is biology. Victoria was the biological mother of Emmanual where Tiffany was only a step Mother.  Emani's mother suffered domestic violence at the hands of her boyfriend, Eman who sought custoday. Like most victims of domestic violence, if the father does not beat on the child, they assume it is safter for everyone involved to leave things as they were. It is also not unusual for abusive men to get with a controlling woman and change their entire behavior. With one woman, they will be brutal and controlling and with the next, they will be submissive and abused. It makes little to no sense whatsoever, but for those who live in domestic violence, it is logical.

Tiffany chose to represent herself in court. She declined to make an opening statement and has not asked any questions of prosecution witnesses. She has made zero objections to evidence, making her odds for an appeal extremely low. She comes across as cold, uncaring, and as though she feels superior to everyone there.

Victoria was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, torture and first-degree child abuse. She was sentenced to 27 to 50 years in prison for the torture and child abuse charges, and 5 to 15 years for the manslaughter charged. Mr. Rimson convicted of involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse. He was sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison on the manslaughter charge and 5 to 10 years concurrently on the child abuse charge. The judge was dismayed she could not sentence Foster to life in prison. The jury opted for involuntary manslaughter instead of felony first degree murder, which would have made her eligible for life in prison. It remains to be seen what will happen with Tiffany's case and how she will fair in general population should she find herself there.
